Toodles & The Hectic Pity are local favs and have been in Bristol playing music together through the first half of their 20's. They write snappy, percussive punk songs with rich vocal melodies. Their lyrics are crafted with subtle literary hints and playful turns of phrase, tucking existential themes into catchy refrains that cry for sing-a-long. Far from pretentious, the Toodles live show is full of contagious energy and enthusiasm.

Lyrically, ‘Ghost, Guilt & Grandparents’ is an exploration of loneliness, anxiety, and the nature of familial relationships through time.'Ducks' is an upbeat yet melancholy track written by front-person Callum McAllister while living in a new home, without a job and without a strong creative project. He has this to say about the song,"Ducks is about being haunted and lonely. It’s also about realising how much you rely on others; that people are as much a part of your home as the building. The main image comes from Catcher in the Rye where Holden asks the taxi driver where the ducks go in winter and, of course, he’s not really asking about the ducks; he’s asking about himself. I’m sure they do have somewhere to go, but I channeled my inner Holden in creating a metaphor that didn’t make a lot of sense. Ducks are a sympathetic animal, and I think that they nicely dramatise that essential alienation of the heart: That an expression of love can simply be that you’re at home in someone’s love, and that without that kind of care, it can be the same kind of estrangement as having no family home to go back to."
